Aviva Tokenized Fund Launches on XRP Ledger With ECB Approval

Aviva Investors has launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, marking the first regulated tokenized fund to receive Central Bank of Ireland approval. The move represents a watershed moment for institutional asset tokenization on blockchain infrastructure, even as XRP’s price struggles against regulatory headwinds and slowing exchange-traded fund inflows.

Background: Institutional Tokenization Goes Mainstream

The tokenized share class became live on July 29, 2026, following a partnership announcement between Ripple and Aviva Investors that was first disclosed in February of this year. The fund itself—the Aviva Investors US Dollar Liquidity Fund—has operated since 2020 as a conventional investment vehicle focused on high-grade, US dollar-denominated short-term debt instruments. The blockchain version maintains the identical investment strategy, risk profile, and daily liquidity terms as its traditional counterpart while introducing operational efficiencies through tokenization.

Bank of New York Mellon continues to provide custody for all assets, a critical detail that underscores the institutional-grade infrastructure supporting the launch. Komainu, a regulated institutional digital asset custodian, and Licuido, a tokenization infrastructure provider, rounded out the technical framework. This layering of established financial institutions alongside blockchain specialists signals the maturing infrastructure ecosystem required for large-scale institutional adoption of tokenized assets.

The Central Bank of Ireland’s approval removes a significant regulatory barrier that has slowed tokenized fund launches across Europe. Unlike some previous experimental programs, the Aviva product is a live, offered investment vehicle with real investor capital, not a proof-of-concept or sandbox initiative.

The XRP Ledger’s Growing Real-World Asset Base

This launch arrives as the XRP Ledger has accumulated approximately 4.37 billion dollars in tracked real-world assets, as of July 29. That total splits between 313.3 million in distributed assets and 4.06 billion in represented assets—categories that encompass tokenized securities, stablecoins, and other blockchain-native representations of off-chain value.

The Aviva fund launch demonstrates demand for this infrastructure among tier-one asset managers. Ripple’s broader ecosystem play has also intensified over the past week. The company unveiled Ripple Mint on July 23, a platform enabling institutional clients to issue, redeem, transfer, and track the RLUSD stablecoin through web interface or API, alongside automation and internal systems integration capabilities. On the same day, Ripple announced an investment in Notabene, a compliance platform that will layer identity verification and transaction authorization onto the RLUSD network.

That investment plugs RLUSD into Notabene’s compliance network of 2,300 institutions across over 100 jurisdictions, handling more than 2 trillion dollars in annualized volume. The stablecoin itself has crossed a notable milestone: for the first time, more RLUSD now resides on the XRP Ledger (810 million dollars, or 51.7 percent) than on Ethereum (756 million dollars, or 48.3 percent). One month prior, Ethereum held a lead exceeding 300 million dollars, making this a meaningful shift in blockchain asset distribution.

Market Performance Decoupled from Fundamentals

Despite these institutional advances, XRP trading at 1.083 dollars as of 15:57 UTC on July 31 reflects ongoing price pressure. Over the past seven days, the token has declined nearly 5.7 percent, trading between 1.07 and 1.09 dollars. Market cap stands at 67.76 billion dollars, maintaining a rank of number six among all cryptocurrencies, with 24-hour volume near 900 million dollars.

Multiple factors are compressing price momentum. The delayed CLARITY Act, which would provide regulatory clarity for digital assets in the United States, continues to create uncertainty around Ripple’s regulatory trajectory. Federal Reserve policy tightness weighs on broader risk assets. Large holders have been booking profits, and inflows into the seven XRP exchange-traded funds now available in the US—including offerings from Bitwise, Canary Capital, Franklin Templeton, and Grayscale—have moderated after earlier enthusiasm. Standard Chartered recently slashed its year-end XRP price target from 8 dollars to 2.80 dollars, citing slowing ETF inflows as a key reason.

On-chain metrics present a mixed picture. Block Digest’s proprietary BD Pulse indicator scores the asset at 45 out of 100, indicating neutral positioning rather than bullish or bearish extremes. The long-to-short account ratio stands at 2.25, with longs representing 69.2 percent of positions, suggesting retail and institutional traders still maintain net bullish bets even amid price weakness. The relative strength index sits at 48.36, just below neutral midpoint, indicating neither oversold nor overbought conditions.

What This Means for the Market

The disconnect between institutional adoption velocity and price performance underscores a recurring dynamic in crypto markets: near-term technicals and sentiment can diverge sharply from medium-term utility and infrastructure buildout. Aviva’s live tokenized fund demonstrates that regulated institutions view the XRP Ledger as production-ready for real capital deployment, not merely experimental. The Central Bank of Ireland’s approval provides a regulatory template that other jurisdictions may follow.

However, retail and institutional traders remain fixated on near-term catalysts: the CLARITY Act timeline, Federal Reserve policy, and ETF net inflows. Prediction markets currently assign a 70 percent probability that XRP closes August above 1.20 dollars, suggesting conditional optimism if macro conditions improve.

The broader narrative suggests that XRP’s fundamental case—institutional tokenization adoption, RLUSD network expansion, and protocol development—will likely reassert itself once regulatory clarity emerges and macro headwinds ease, but near-term consolidation between 1.07 and 1.10 dollars appears probable absent a significant catalyst.
